Canadian rapper Aubrey “Drake” Graham made a “psychotic” betting on Super Bowl LVII, netting $1,262,000 in Bitcoin (BTC) after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles with a score of 38-35 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Drake posted images of his numerous bets on Instagram on February 10, 2023, along with the caption, “My psychotic bets for Sunday are in @stake.” The 36-year-old Grammy winner also urged people not to “analyze the logic behind these bets there is none.”
The rapper placed bets on several Super Bowl events this year. Drake used the cryptocurrency betting site Stake to wager $700,00 in $BTC on the Chiefs, which yielded a return of $777,000.
Drake placed his second bet on quarterback Patrick Mahomes to score a touchdown, wagering $50,000 in $BTC. The star player scored three touchdowns, earning the singer $700.000 towards the end of the game.
The Canadian’s third bet – Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce to win the Super Bowl MVP – didn’t come through because Mahomes won it. Another flop was a wager on wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to score a touchdown.
Although he lost $215,000 on $BTC, Drake’s overall profit was $1,262,000 in the aftermath.
Last year, the influential figure won a fortune betting on Super Bowl LVI, winning $381,000 in $BTC after the Los Angeles Rams rallied to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20.
Drake made three large bets using his Bitcoin holdings leading up to the big game, totaling $1.25 million. He put $600,000 on the Rams to beat the Bengals with a payout of $906,000.
However, when it comes to betting on major sporting events, Drake also has had unsuccessful streaks.
The rapper lost $1,000,000 in December by wagering on Argentina vs. France in the World Cup final due to technicality. Drake wagered money on Argentina to beat France before the end of normal regulation time – 90 minutes. Despite Argentia winning the game, unfortunately for Drake, it went to extra time and penalty shootouts.
Drake also lost $275,000 after Colby Covington beat Jorge Masvidal at UFC 273 in March 2022.
